History of the department in figures
1965 - The department "Development and operation of oil and gas fields" was founded. The department was established under the guidance of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Khalikov G.A.
1973 - Tolybekov B.S. was appointed the head of the department.
From 1978 to 1982 M. M. Maylybaev worked as the head of the department.
From 1990 to 1997 as the head of the department was appointed associate professor Abishev S.K.
Since 1997, the department "Development and Operation of Oil and Gas Fields" was headed by Omarov M.O.
Since 2006, Professor T.K. Ahmedjanov has been appointed the head of the department.
Since 1990 the department began to prepare specialists in the state language. Today the department trains bachelors, masters and PhD in the specialty "Oil and gas business".
The department has produced more than 10,000 specialists for the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for more than 50 years.
Leading oil companies promote the employment of graduates of the basic department in their structural units of the organization. In addition, the department conducts refresher courses, the personnel reserve is formed.
The department also cooperates with research and design organizations of Kazakhstan and Russia.
The students of the department take an active part in the academic mobility programs of the university and are trained in the leading universities of the world. Annually, undergraduates and doctoral students of the department pass foreign internships in foreign universities. Foreign professors supervise the research activities of doctoral students of the department. Together with foreign professors, the department's scientists publish textbooks and carry out joint publications.
The students of the department "Oil Engineering" conduct scientific research at the international level and are members of the section of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers - "SPE".
The Society of Petroleum Engineers is an international non-profit organization of oil industry technical specialists. The main goal of the company is the accumulation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of oil exploration and production, the development of related technologies. The offices of the company are located in Moscow, Dallas, Houston, London, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur. Members of the SPE are more than 100 thousand people, including more than 28 thousand students.
In addition, students and staff of the Department regularly take part in international and regional scientific and practical conferences and forums, become scholarship holders and win grants from leading oil and gas companies of Kazakhstan and the world.
The main mission of the department is to ensure effective management of educational and scientific activities, the implementation of basic and additional educational programs. This mission is achieved by providing quality education and training experience through advanced research.
