Accommodation for people with disabilities
Satbayev University is consistently working to create a barrier-free and inclusive environment designed to ensure equal living and learning conditions for students with disabilities. One of the key elements of this system is a specialized dormitory adapted to the needs of students with limited mobility.
The dormitory provides conditions for comfortable and safe living for students with special needs. The dormitory is located in a small historic building called “Dos-Mukasan Uyasy,” where the space is organized in accordance with the principles of an accessible environment, with special attention paid to adapting the infrastructure for students who use wheelchairs, as well as students with visual impairments.
Creating such conditions is part of the university’s comprehensive policy on the development of inclusive education and aligns with international approaches to creating an accessible environment. The implementation of the project contributes to improving students’ quality of life, expands their access to education and social engagement, and reduces barriers to participation in academic and social settings. This directly contributes to the formation of a more inclusive society and the training of qualified professionals, regardless of physical limitations.
Thus, the development of a specialized dormitory at Satbayev University contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, primarily Goal 4 “Quality Education” and Goal 10 “Reduced Inequalities”: creating accessible infrastructure, ensuring equal access to education and housing, increasing social integration, and fostering a sustainable and inclusive educational environment in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
