Military Department

About military training

At the Institute of Military Affairs (Military Department), military training of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan is organized and carried out according to reserve officer programs, on the basis of higher professional education received in accordance with the recruitment plan determined by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MD RK).

Military training is conducted in order to prepare the mobilization reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Institute of Military Affairs is a structural subdivision of the NAO "KazNITU named after K.I.Satpayev". On issues of military training, the Institute of Military Affairs is guided by the orders of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Military training of students is an additional type of training and consists of theoretical and practical training courses, a training camp for young students or professional practice for female students.

In total, 588 academic hours are allocated for military training, including 360 academic hours at the university and 228 academic hours at the training camp (professional practice for female students).

Military training under the reserve officers program is carried out free of charge and on a reimbursable basis. Students who have not passed the conditions of the competition for tuition free of charge and recommended by the selection commission for tuition on a reimbursable basis are attracted to study on a paid basis.

To study at military departments, the head of the University, in agreement with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in accordance with the recruitment plan, students of other universities, regardless of ownership and subordination, who have a license from the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of the Republic of Kazakhstan to conduct educational activities, but do not have military departments, can be involved in training on a paid basis.

In order to reimburse the costs associated with providing the university with the activities of the military department, the cost of training at the military department on a reimbursable basis, by the decision of the head of the university, may be increased by 10% relative to the cost of training at the military department on a state educational order free of charge.

History

Among dozens of departments and faculties of the Kazakh National Technical University, a special place is occupied by the military department, which gives graduates of the university the main specialty for every citizen of a sovereign state – the specialty of defender of the Motherland.

The Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute was founded in a year when the threat of war in the world was becoming a harsh reality, so the training of military specialists in civilian educational institutions became particularly relevant at that time.

From the first day of the institute's establishment, its students, teachers and employees mastered military affairs without leaving their main specialty through universal education. In 1940, in order to ensure a higher level of training of military specialists, the Department of Military Affairs was organized within the walls of the Institute.

The first head of the Department of Military Affairs was Major A.S. Dubil, who died on the battlefield in the Great Patriotic War. He did a lot in the military training of engineers and patriotic education of young people. The results affected the courage and heroism of the pupils and graduates of the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute, which will be discussed in another section of the book.

During the Great Patriotic War, Colonel Nikolai Ivanovich Osinsky was appointed to the post of head of the military department – an active participant in the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars, a graduate of the first Kremlin cadet school (later the military school named after the Supreme Soviet ...)

The Department of Military Affairs of the Institute has truly become a forge for the training of military personnel. So, in 1944 alone, 1,499 military specialists were trained at the institute. Among them: junior tank commanders - 22 people, junior submachine gunners - 84 people, grenade throwers – 302 people, hand-to–hand-70 people, radio operators –telegraph operators - 116 people, radio operators – 328 people, ski fighters - 337 people, sappers-polar explorers – 50 people, advanced shooters – 190 people .

Graduates of the Department of Military Affairs highly carried the honor of their educational institution on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and six of them:

- Yaschenko Nikolay Ivanovich,

- Zasyadko Vladimir Alekseevich,

- Markelov Nikolay Danilovich,

- Toropkin Alexey Georgievich,

- Baymukhanov Moussa,

- Gubanov Maxim Gerasimovich

- for their exploits they were awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

In general, over the years of the existence of the military department, more than 31 thousand reserve officers have been trained. During the period from 1946 to 1991 , inclusive , reserve officers of various military specialties were released – 21544 people . Over the period from 1992 to 2020 inclusive , more than 10,000 people were released .

In the post-war years - since 1952, the Department of Military Affairs was transformed into the military department of the Institute. The head of the military department was appointed – a major military commander who passed all the "fires and waters" of the Great Patriotic War, a member of the Military Council of the Leningrad Military District, awarded many military orders, an expert in military affairs, both theory and practice – Major General of artillery Kasatkin Nikolai Stepanovich. Nikolai Stepanovich was a highly educated man, he always had the intelligence of decency, humanity, and spiritual kindness. His external fitness, beauty and manner of communication with students and colleagues always delighted everyone. He, in the full sense, was engaged in interesting social work with young people – students, schoolchildren. He was their idol. He was respected and respected at the institute.

The department has started training reserve officers for artillery units. Since 1961, reserve officers for anti–tank units have been additionally trained in the walls of the department, since 1971 – officers for the air defense forces, and since 1978 - engineers for ground artillery.

I must say, the military department was one of the best in the district. During the Soviet period, she repeatedly won prizes and received encouragement from the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union. Graduates of our institute who took a course of military training, as having a high professional level, were drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army. The authority of the department is confirmed by the fact that for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan, a remarkable fact was the arrival at the Institute in 1965 of Marshal of Artillery, Commander of Rocket Forces and artillery of the Soviet Army ground forces K.P. Kazakov. The Rector's office and the staff of the Institute organized a worthy warm welcome to Marshal of the Soviet Union K.P. Kazakov.

A particularly responsible task was assigned to the staff of the military Department of the Kazakh National Technical University in connection with the formation of a sovereign state – the Republic of Kazakhstan and the creation of its own Armed Forces.

As a result of the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the unified system of officer training for the Armed Forces of the State also collapsed. The reality turned out to be that the military department of the Kazakh National Technical University became the only educational institution that trains officers for artillery units, air defense forces and specialists of the RAV service of the Army of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since 2003, competitive admission of students to the military department has been carried out for high-quality training of future defenders of the Motherland, which makes it possible to significantly increase the level of professional training of future officers.

Many graduates of the military department today are commanders of units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and honorably perform the responsible tasks assigned to them to strengthen the defense capability of the state. More than 10 graduates of the military department became generals.

For example, Major General Khakimov Shamil Rafikovich is the former head of the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 1981 he graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, at the military department of which he received a military education. For conscientious performance of official duties and services to the Fatherland Sh . Khakimov was awarded the Order of "Aybin" of the 2nd degree, medals "For impeccable service of the first degree" and "For impeccable service of the second degree". General Khakimov S.R. remembers with great warmth and gratitude the wonderful years of study at KazPTI and at the military department. It was studying at the military department that radically changed his future fate, and he connected his whole life with service in the Armed Forces.

Today, when the first gray hair has turned to silver, and the general's shoulder straps sparkle on the shoulder straps, Shamil Rafikovich is deeply convinced that every man, a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, must serve in the Armed Forces and fulfill his constitutional duty to the Motherland.

Lieutenant General of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bozhko Vladimir Karpovich - Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 2007 to 2014. In 1971 he graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, at the military department of which he received a military education. For conscientious performance of official duties and services to the Fatherland, V. Bozhko was awarded the Order of Barys I degree and the Order of "Aybin" 2-nd degree.

At the military department, great attention is always paid to the quality of training of future officers, the educational and material base is being improved, electronic computing equipment is being widely introduced, advanced training methods are being used.

A great personal contribution to the formation and development was made by the heads of the department, who headed the teaching staff in different periods. Thus, the teaching staff of the Military Department (Institute of Military Affairs) was led by:

from 1962 to 1966, Colonel Parnyshkov S.P.

from 1966 to 1975, Colonel Kuzmenko V.G.

The teaching staff and staff of the military Department are making every effort to further improve educational, military-patriotic, scientific and methodological work and educational and methodological activities aimed at training highly qualified reserve officers and sergeants for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan
