Intra-university Stage of the Republican Green Building Certification System OMIR Contest Held
On May 6, 2025, Satbayev University hosted the first intra-university stage of the Republican Contest for the Best Green Building Project based on Kazakhstan's environmental building assessment system OMIR, organized by the Kazakhstan Green Building Council (KazGBC).
The contest is aimed at developing practical competencies of students in sustainable architecture and promoting environmentally oriented design. As part of the preparation, participants completed online training on the OMIR system, successfully passed the test, and obtained the status of accredited green building specialists.
The contest projects included residential, educational, and public buildings adapted to the conditions of various cities in Kazakhstan and meeting the criteria for environmental efficiency, economic feasibility, and sustainable planning.
Results of the Intra-university Stage of the Contest:
- 1st place – “ECO Hostel Qurultai” for 70 people in Almaty.
- Team: Polina Gainullina, Aruzhan Abdukarimova, Annel Khinizova, Zhasmin Yunusova, Aym Kupanova, Akmerey Sunnatilla, Adelina Yakudi.
- Supervisor: Yaskevich Vladimir, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Architecture, Accredited Specialist of KazGBC.
- 2nd place – “EcoDom”.
- Authors: Alexander Shvetsov, Eliza Fisher, Madi Shan.
- Supervisor: Zhannat Bekbolatova, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Energy, Expert of KazGBC.
- 3rd place – “Alfarabi Green Tower”.

- Supervisor: Zhannat Bekbolatova, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Energy, Expert of KazGBC.
The projects were evaluated by an expert commission consisting of faculty members from the Departments of Architecture and Energy, specializing in sustainable construction.
