AP22685298 "Development of technology for the bioconversion of methane into a high-protein product in an innovative bioreactor"
Relevance
The project is aimed at the efficient use of methane, one of the most powerful greenhouse gases, by its bioconversion into a valuable protein product. This allows us to simultaneously solve environmental problems and provide the agro-industrial complex with high-quality feed protein. The project is relevant for the oil and gas, coal and agricultural industries, has commercial potential and meets modern challenges of sustainable development.
Purpose
The aim of the project is to develop a technology for the bioconversion of methane into a high-protein product through an innovative bioreactor based on the use of an immobilizer system. This will increase the contact time of methane with methanotrophic bacteria and significantly increase the efficiency of the process. Methanotrophic bacteria (Methylococcus capsulatus) can effectively absorb methane from solution, thereby rapidly increasing high-protein biomass rich in easily digestible amino acids and useful proteins.
Expected and achieved results
1. Development of a theoretical justification for the process of bioconversion of methane into a high-protein product in a bioreactor with an immobilizer, which ensures high efficiency of increasing the biomass of methane-oxidizing bacteria (Methylococcus capsulatus) in conditions of low solubility of methane in solution. 2. Study of physico-chemical, thermal, hydrodynamic and biological processes of interaction of methane-oxidizing bacteria (Methylococcus capsulatus), methane, and oxygen in the presence of an immobilizer in a bioreactor to ensure high productivity of a biomass fermenter
